The collection of Czech interwar modern art at the Gallery of West Bohemia in Pilsen presents a wide spectrum of artistic trends from 1918 to 1938, from early pre-WWI Modernism, Expressionism and Poetism to avant-garde experiments and Surrealism. Great attention is also paid to social art and the so-called New Objectivity.<\/p>\n
The collection, built up mainly in the 1960s and 1970s by the Gallery\u2019s first director, Old\u0159ich Kuba (and expanded ever since), includes works by personalities such as Josef \u0160\u00edma, Jind\u0159ich \u0160tyrsk\u00fd, Toyen, Franti\u0161ek Muzika, Jan Zrzav\u00fd, V\u00e1clav \u0160p\u00e1la, Emil Filla, Josef \u010capek, Bohumil Kubi\u0161ta, Franti\u0161ek Tich\u00fd, Otakar Coubine, Anton\u00edn Proch\u00e1zka and others.<\/p>\n
