Full Description

Dallas & the New Tradition explores Dallas’s unique architectural history and celebrates Larry E. Boerder’s vision of restoring the city’s great revival past in a manner fit for the twenty-first century.
Larry E. Boerder Architects specializes in designing and building homes in the prestigious suburbs of Highland Park, University Park, and Preston Hollow, nestled in Dallas. With a modern revivalist approach, their work honors the architectural traditions established in these communities in the early twentieth century.
Delve into the origins of some of America’s most beautiful and idyllic suburbs and how this setting inspired Boerder to create homes that are elegant, refined, and above all, harmonious to their surroundings. Come behind the scenes to tour some of his greatest properties located in Texas and farther afield, which stand as an enduring testament to the talent of Boerder and his team, as well as their dedication to preserving and taking forward the New Tradition.

About the Author

Authored by the firm of Larry E. Boerder Architects.
Quinlan Terry is acknowledged as the doyen of classical architecture in Britain and possibly the world. During the course of his over sixty-year practice he has reinstated and reinvigorated classical forms and led a global movement to push back against the dominance of modernist orthodoxy. Winner of the Richard H. Driehaus Prize for Classical Architecture, the European Prize from the Philipe Rotthier Foundation as well as the Arthur Ross Award for Excellence in the Classical Tradition, he has successfully made the argument that solutions for today's building challenges can be accomplished with traditional and classical designs.
A Dallas native, Larry Boerder graduated summa cum laude and won the AIA School Medal from the University of Texas in 1976. Qualifying as an Architect in 1979 and establishing his practice Larry E. Boerder Architects (LEBA) in 1988, Boerder has led the way in reestablishing classical revival architecture in Dallas and beyond. Boerder has been widely published, on a local, regional and national level and LEBA has been the recipient of four ICAA John Staub awards.
David Hamilton-Eddy graduated from Christ’s College, Cambridge in 1964. He has lectured on architecture at Stanford University, at the University of California at Berkeley, at McGill and Toronto Universities in North America, and at the Architecture Association in London. He has published widely in the architectural press over the last half century and in the London Times Higher Education Supplement.
A graduate of the University of St. Andrews, Lukas Hamilton-Eddy is a practicing barrister (England and Wales) and attorney at law (Texas, United States).
