Full Description

The Paris-based office LIST was established in 2012 by Ido Avissar – architect, urbanist, and PhD researcher. Avissar is known for his interdisciplinary practice at the intersection between architecture, urbanism, landscape and theory. He is the head of Fragment, a master’s programme at the École d’Architecture de la Ville & des Territoires Paris-Est and teaches at institutions including Sciences Po and ETH Zurich.

The work of LIST is heterogeneous and idiosyncratic. The office, dedicated to architecture, urbanism, and research, positions itself between disciplines rather than within a fixed framework. This approach stems from the observation that many contemporary spatial and societal questions manifest themselves in different ways and at different scales. Addressing these issues across disciplines provides the practice with a fertile design framework. LIST’s work stands apart from that of its contemporaries through its use of drawings, which assemble disjointed realities into condensed figures oscillating between abstraction and specificity.

The monograph covers the majority of projects developed since the founding of LIST in 2012. Rather than simply presenting a collection of projects, the monograph is conceived as a manifesto, revealing LIST’s approach to architecture, urbanism, landscape and the contemporary city. The work is organized around eight recurring questions and interdisciplinary themes.
