Sheila Hicks

To coincide with the exhibition at the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille, this book accompanies Sheila Hicks’s carte blanche investment of the museum’s atrium – the first time a woman artist has been invited to do so in the museum’s history. Sheila Hicks, a world-renowned American artist, works at the intersection of painting, sculpture and architecture, transforming natural and industrial textiles and fibers into works of widely varying scale and form. The book brings together essays by Julia Garimorth and Glenn Lowry, an illustrated biography by Cara McCarty featuring archival photographs, and an interview with the artist herself, alongside around 50 full-page color reproductions of works presented in the exhibition, some created specially for the space.
