Italian and American Art focuses on the period between 1930 and 1980 in particular. By comparing artworks and examining exhibition and gallery policies, political meddling, and figures linking Italy to the United States, a common thread emerges which held two worlds that were literally an ocean apart but in constant touch as they explored each other’s movements contributing to art, from Futurism, Concrete art, and Abstract Expressionism, to Nuclear art, Pop art and Spatialism.

Alessandra Bigi Iotti and Giulio Zavatta are noted art historians, authors, and professors who have organized exhibitions, events, and conferences in Italy and abroad. In this book, they take the reader on a journey through art galleries, museums, and places of worship, looking for celebrated as well as forgotten masterpieces of Mannerism – the most controversial style of the Renaissance period. Mannerism emerged in the later years of the High Italian Renaissance and continued into the early 17th century. Noted artists who worked in this style include Pontormo, Rosso Fiorentino, Parmigianino, and Giulio Romano. This book offers insight into this movement in the context of its time and brings to light forgotten works that represent an important part of Italian art history.

Italian Wines is the English-language version of Gambero Rosso’s Vini d’Italia, the world’s best-selling guide to Italian wine, now in its 39th edition. More than 2,500 producers are selected. Each entry brings together useful information about a winery, including a description of its most important labels and price levels in Italian wine shops. Each wine is evaluated according to the Gambero Rosso bicchieri rating, with Tre Bicchieri awarded to the top labels. The guide is an essential tool for both wine professionals and passionate amateurs around the globe: it provides the instruments for finding one’s way in the complex panorama of Italy’s wine world.

From Ischia to Capri, Amalfi and Sicily, Italy’s most iconic coastal travel destinations are poetically explored through the lens of fine arts photographer Natalie Obradovich who captures the soul of each location with affection and nuance. Each image is a postcard from the shores of the Italian beach clubs and towns that define summer.

This delightful jewel-like book evokes unmistakably Italian landscapes and cityscapes. Anne Desmet’s pen commits every detail to paper, and the small-scale format emphasizes her distinctive flair for capturing the relationship between extreme foreground and distance. This is a unique opportunity to explore Italy, from the Apennines to the Veneto, through the eyes of a meticulous and precise artist.

History of Italian Watchmaking takes readers on a centuries-long journey that begins with the marking and measuring of time in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance to the apex of modern watchmaking revived by ‘Made in Italy’ stylistic trends and precision craftsmanship. Italy’s peninsula occupies only 0.5% of the world’s surface but has given birth to 70% of the world’s art. Italy’s pursuit of art, beauty, and elegance is a defining trait of Italian watchmaking. Italians have always been voyagers to far away lands, from Marco Polo on, poets, artists, and creators of iconic fashion brands and car design. It is not surprising that this genius has been applied to clocks and watches as well. Hourglasses, sundials, and church bells marked time over many centuries. Illustrious geniuses such as Dante Alighieri, Galileo Galilei, Giorgio Vasari, Filippo Brunelleschi, and Leonardo da Vinci were intensely interested in the measuring of time passing.

Feast your eyes on Italian Living, a book that takes you on a house tour of some of the most unexpected dwellings in Italy. Captured by interior design photographer Guillaume de Laubier, these homes uncover the design-forward spirit of Italian living culture. Unlike for example Japanese minimalism, the Italian interior style cannot be pinned down to one characteristic. Italian living is all about personality and a sense of playfulness. La dolce vita between four walls, so to speak. And that is exactly what this book exemplifies, with its rich textures, its vivid colors and its sculptural furniture. Feel a southern whiff of air while browsing through Italian Living, and let it inspire your own interior design choices.

Yasser ‘Mierkat’ Booley started producing photographs in 1993 on the eve of the ‘new’ South Africa. Raised within the tension of a conservative Cape Malay home in politically fraught South Africa, he soon became an observant apprentice, set on mastering the essence of the electric ‘rainbow nation’. This book is a celebration, an indulgent vision. Booley’s South Africa shows ordinary people caught at a crossroads, entangled in a dishevelled unity. He brings to light the beauty of humanity through all religious and cultural differences, through class and gender diversity. His character and style reveal an unbridled optimism, sprinkled with an accidental whiff of irony. Text in English, French, Dutch, and German. With the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in 1925, Art Deco seduced the world. From New York to Paris, the press celebrated this event which permanently imposes this universal style.

Crossing the Atlantic aboard sumptuous liners such as Île-de-France and Normandy, main French decorators such as Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann, Jean Dunand and Pierre Chareau exhibited in department stores, from New York to Philadelphia.

From Mexico to Canada, this enthusiasm is driven by North American architects trained at the School National Museum of Fine Arts in Paris from the beginning of the 20th century, then at the Art Training Center in Meudon and at the Fontainebleau School of Fine Arts, two art schools founded after the First World War world which strengthened the links between the two continents.

This book reveals a reciprocal emulation which is illustrated in the architecture and ornamentation of skyscrapers as well as in cinema, fashion, press, sport…

Thirty-seven texts and 350 illustrations make it possible to discover the unique links that unite France and America, from the Statue of Liberty by Bartholdi to the Streamline which succeeds Art Deco.

Italian Story is the culmination of more than forty years of photographic work by Andrea Modica in Italy, a country with which the artist has formed a deep, evolving relationship. Made entirely with an 8×10 view camera, the photographs span decades and regions, revealing a slow, attentive way of seeing rooted in time, presence, and return. The title draws from the layered meaning of the Italian word storia—at once history, story, situation, and fiction—reflecting the book’s open, fluid narrative. Rather than offering a linear account, Italian Story unfolds as a personal and poetic record of encounters, places, and moments shaped by memory and imagination. Balancing intimacy and distance, documentary precision and lyrical ambiguity, Modica’s images form a quiet meditation on duration, place, and the act of looking. Published by L’Artiere, the book stands as an ongoing visual narrative—both lived and constructed—between photographer and country.

Part of the 36 Chambers series published by Drago, Why Style’s Dirt Don’t Hurt condenses a decade of research and experimentation into an extraordinary series of succinct texts, graphic projects, drawings and photos. It is their eclecticism, pushed to excess, that brilliantly captures the immense versatility of graffiti art. The Why Style collective was founded in Rome in 1996 through a fusion of some of the most talented and prolific Roman graffiti artists; Joe, Pane, Nico, Scarful and Stand. This group has now grown to represent European graffiti writing and its evolution towards an intricate artistic language. These artists often work with waste, transfiguring the garbage surrounding them into unlikely, stunning works of art. In this book, the collective chooses once again to follow this unique theme by exploring a different kind of waste: the dirt of human beings. It tackles some of the most complex and controversial issues in our society today through unconventional and inimitable iconography.

In recent years, Japanese minimalism has become an emerging design force, and the essence of the Wabisabi aesthetic, the core of traditional Japanese aesthetics, is a simple beauty that can stand the test of time. Based on the concept of ‘not stripping away its rhythm’, designers have ‘transformed’ the traditional Wabi-sabi style to create a modern Wabi-sabi that is more in tune with modern aesthetic sensibilities. From the tennis player Maria Sharapova and American socialite Khloe Kardashian, to the domestic winner of the Asian Hotel Design Award, Wabi-sabi has become one of the hottest styles of the moment.

This book features over 30 Wabi-sabi style projects from around the world, ranging from commercial spaces such as hotels, showrooms and restaurants to residences, and presents a comprehensive look at the use of Wabi-sabi elements in contemporary interior design. Many of the most influential designers in the wabi-sabi genre are featured, including those who have created their own wabi-sabi homes.

“Those looking to further explore the Monroe mystique can delve into “Marilyn Monroe Style,” (ACC Art Books) by Terry Newman.” WWD

“If you thought you knew everything there was to know about Marilyn Monroe think again. Terry Newman is a masterful writer with a forensically investigative style, revealing so much more about Monroe’s role as a fashion influencer than the bombshell sex goddess in shimmering sequins, that became shorthand for her image.” — Forbes

“Eternally stylish…How Marilyn Monroe continues to influence fashion today.” — Tempus Magazine

Marilyn Monroe’s world was the stuff of fairy-tale – the orphan who conquered Hollywood and hailed as the most beautiful woman in the world before her untimely death in 1962.

Marilyn Monroe Style celebrates Marilyn’s impact on fashion by revealing the influence of her many iconic looks. Her wardrobe encompassed sensual femininity as well as low-key minimalism. Outfits span from shimmering showpieces such as the Jean Louis gown worn to serenade JFK on his birthday, to Pucci slacks and cats-eye spectacles.

Born Norma Jeane Mortensen, whenever she ‘became’ Marilyn, she mesmerized onlookers with showstopping outfits that helped make her a legend, yet throughout her life the clothes she wore represented many ways of being a woman.

Written by Terry Newman – the bestselling author of Taylor Swift and the Clothes She Wears – this book tells the story of Marilyn’s life through clothes and is essential reading for Marilyn Monroe fans everywhere.

Published in collaboration with the Estate of Marilyn Monroe.

“In the beginning, there was tagging and writing on the walls.” From Style Writing to Art is the first anthology of Street Art ever published worldwide. Magda Danysz, the internationally renowned Street Art gallerist, guides the reader on this immersive journey into the heart of the most interesting artistic movement at the turn of the century. This book grapples with Style Writing, Graffiti, and Street Art. It focuses on the fascinating emergence of the movement amongst the graffiti pioneers of the 1960s, their first appearance in galleries in the 1980s, right up to the cutting-edge works made by the Street Artists of today. Spanning over four decades, the book is divided into three sections with each containing detailed accounts of the surfacing of different styles and techniques. Each period is complete with extensive biographies and analysis covering 50 legendary artists including Seen, JR, Miss Van, JonOne, Shepard Fairey, Quik, Blade, Doze Green, and Keith Haring. “Let me repeat myself,” Danysz writes, “if only for the sceptic eye, for the blind and lost or for the latecomers who ve simply just missed the boat: I believe this type of urban art to be the most important artistic movement at the turn of the century.”

Time is a great mystery. A changeable element, which expands or vanishes, but that appears concrete as it is marked by the passing of seconds, minutes, hours, days, and years. The path toward the capture of minutes and seconds coincided with the phases of scientific evolution that allowed man to manufacture watches that are increasingly reliable, but that are also in tune with changes in customs, social needs, and aesthetic canons.

This book covers the art of watch manufactory as well as 60 great models, covering both their technical evolution and style trends. In each chapter in-depth studies will guide the reader to the history of the most important manufacturers, the personalities linked to the models treated, technical innovations, styles of the period, or records achieved by the wristwatches: from the watch that helped Charles Lindbergh during the first transatlantic solo flight, to the one worn by Sir Edmund Hillary on the top of Mount Everest, the most iconic models will be discussed in detail.

This grand opus assembles the people and the pieces at the heart of the Art Deco movement at each stage of its enduring appeal. The Art Deco Style is richly illustrated with the work of legendary designers and decorators Eileen Gray, Paul Iribe, Antoine Bourdelle, Armand-Albert Rateau and Jean Dunand, among others.

Ever since its early 20th-century origins, Art Deco has fascinated and amused socialites, collectors and designers. Referred to at the time as moderne, the style largely took shape around a clientele of French fashion industry luminaries and wealthy international collectors. Art historians christened it during a second wave in the ’60s, while a third generation of afficionados entered the auction houses of the ’80s and ’90s, ready to invest in the most exquisite examples. Curated by art consultant and author Alastair Duncan, this detailed historical account is the gold-standard visual guide to the decorative arts.
