Full Description

This curated guide to contemporary building design in Istanbul explores new architectural directions and urban development in Turkey’s largest and most visited city. In addition to 86 itineraries that feature a selection of both contemporary and historic buildings, the guide includes critical essays that provide an analysis of Istanbul’s history, urban planning, and future. In this latest addition to the On the Road series, the author examines how social and cultural changes have reframed the dialog between traditional Turkish architecture and the new demands of contemporary design. A fascinating tour of a fast-changing city.
