Will Ukraine ever be an EU member? Why don’t we have a European army yet? Does crisis make the EU stronger? The European Union has great influence on the lives of its citizens. That situation can prove to be controversial. Decisions made by the EU often lead to misunderstanding and resentment. Aside from these controversies, it is clear that the Union today, is the result of a myriad of choices by policymakers throughout the years. A better understanding of these choices and of the recent history of the EU allows us to better grasp its impact, and offers insight into why certain subjects are harder to place. This revised and updated edition of Why Europe? offers a historical as well as thematical insight into the development of the European Union. Drawing from six questions that put main events, key figures as well as the defining moments of the past 70 years in the foreground, this book lays out the essence of European integration.
The Aston Martin Bulldog is a car that should never have existed. A car that was built before its time and became lost in time. A car that never failed to leave those who encountered it mesmerized by its aesthetics and its jaw-dropping capability.
Aston Martin created Bulldog as a concept car in the late 1970s with the hope that it would go into production as the first road car capable of breaking the 200-mph barrier. They missed that speed due to lack of space and the car never entered production. Instead, the sole prototype, designed by William Towns, designer of the DBS and Lagonda, spent the next 40 years bouncing from one owner to another, gradually deteriorating in condition. That is, until 2019. Bought by American collector Phillip Sarofim, Bulldog was about to have one more shot at securing its place in the 200-mph club.
Hundreds of never-seen-before photographs from the Aston Martin Archive, as well as new photography by experienced car photographer Amy Shore, chronicle the lifecycle of this incredible car. Including interviews with the original engineers who were involved in the restoration and speed record, Aston Martin Bulldog follows the full story, from concept and design, through the lost years and on to its recent resurrection, which saw it successfully break the 200-mph threshold in 2022.

This monograph is devoted to Joël Faivre-Chalon (1953–2020), French creator of contemporary jewelry. Trained in Strasbourg and subsequently based in Montpellier, Joël Faivre-Chalon never viewed jewelry as mere ornament: his pieces are the fruit of patient research conducted into form (which, in his hands, tends to be pared down), technique, and materials. His work can be imagined in two broad phases: the first devoted to experiments with color, followed by a second focused on studying volume, drawing on innovative materials such as titanium, slate, laminate, or carbon fiber.
Pierre Bonnard and His Dogs offers a fresh perspective on the painter’s work through the central place his dogs held within it. Present in his photographs, drawings, and paintings—from his Nabi beginnings to his final years in Le Cannet—they accompanied both his artistic journey and his private life. Drawing on rare sources, Stéphane Guégan shows how these companions shaped Bonnard’s vision: they animate his compositions, disrupt perspective, and bring movement, tenderness, and moral reflection.
The book traces this relationship from the joyful decorative scenes of his early years to the later works marked by solitude shared with Marthe. As the fourth title in the Amigos Forever series, it sheds new light on one of the most sensitive painters of the twentieth century and reveals how, through his dogs, Bonnard reflected on creation, freedom, and the vital connection uniting all living beings.
With exhibitions around the world and extensive media attention, the centenary of Monet’s passing in 2026 will be celebrated with due fanfare; and this luxurious book is a fitting and timely accompaniment, covering all of Monet’s key works in a beautifully presented, large-format monograph.
Claude Monet, who remains one of the world’s best-known and beloved artists, spent 70 of his 86 years with paintbrush in hand, drawing strength from constant renewal from reinvention. He embodied the beginnings of Impressionism, then defined it. Few artists have enjoyed such longevity or demonstrated such inventiveness. Monet traces this career, drawing on a rich iconography that includes the ‘must haves’ as well as lesser-known and sometimes surprising works. Author Marianne Mathieu allows us to (re)discover the painter and the man in his simplicity and his daily routine. She immerses the reader in the light and the color that characterized and shaped Monet’s work.

George Stubbs (1724-1806) was one of Britain’s most original artists, and he transformed nature painting. His dedication to accuracy caused him to spend 18 solitary months dissecting and drawing horses for The Anatomy of the Horse, a landmark in anatomy used by artists and scientists long after his death. His portraits of both people and horses combine an unflinchingly accurate gaze with profound psychological truth; yet he also created some of the age’s most lyrical paintings.
Ozias Humphry, a colleague and friend, recorded many conversations with Stubbs. His manuscript was edited in 1876 by Liverpudlian patron and historian Joseph Mayer, for private circulation only. It was never otherwise issued, and this edition is the Memoir’s first publication.
An introduction by leading expert Anthony Mould discusses Stubbs’ career and reputation and Humphrys’ and Mayer’s work. Thirty-six pages of color illustrations cover the span of Stubbs’ output.
First issued in 2005, the Memoir has now been entirely reset, and updated to include recent scholarship.
Nestled between the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Humayun’s Tomb and the sacred precinct of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya, Sunder Nursery is a landscape shaped by centuries of history, culture and nature. This book introduces Sunder Nursery and its surroundings, exploring its rich history and distinctive natural and cultural features. Over the past 18 years, the urban-scale project has encompassed more than 200 individual projects, including conservation works on nearly 75 monuments, improvements in the quality of life of over 20,000 residents of Hazrat Nizamuddin Basti through various socio-economic and urban improvement initiatives, and the landscape design of over 81 hectares across the Humayun’s Tomb complex, Sunder Nursery, and the neighborhood parks of Hazrat Nizamuddin Basti.
Italian Story is the culmination of more than forty years of photographic work by Andrea Modica in Italy, a country with which the artist has formed a deep, evolving relationship. Made entirely with an 8×10 view camera, the photographs span decades and regions, revealing a slow, attentive way of seeing rooted in time, presence, and return. The title draws from the layered meaning of the Italian word storia—at once history, story, situation, and fiction—reflecting the book’s open, fluid narrative. Rather than offering a linear account, Italian Story unfolds as a personal and poetic record of encounters, places, and moments shaped by memory and imagination. Balancing intimacy and distance, documentary precision and lyrical ambiguity, Modica’s images form a quiet meditation on duration, place, and the act of looking. Published by L’Artiere, the book stands as an ongoing visual narrative—both lived and constructed—between photographer and country.
Few, if any, cities have a literary history as rich as that of London. Writers have written about it; and lived, loved, stayed and died there. Here are 111 stories to be revealed. Among them are the lives of writers and their characters, and the plots and venue. Where can you see the first printed book in the western world, or visit the library with no books? Where did two poets marry secretly and then flee to Italy; and what happened when Sigmund Freud met Salvador Dalí? What is the mystery of the signed copy of Mein Kampf?
This is a guide to the capital unlike any other – not only enlightening to residents who may have thought that they knew their city (and their books), but the visitor, too. These are sights you shouldn’t miss – but which you’re unlikely to find without this book.
Sixty years after his death, this book celebrates the life and work of the sculptor Ossip Zadkine (1888–1967), one of the most distinctive voices in twentieth-century sculpture. Though he rose to international prominence in Paris during the roaring twenties, his work transcends movements and categories.
Richly illustrated, the book explores the breadth of Zadkine’s prolific oeuvre, featuring more than 600 sculptures alongside hundreds of gouaches, drawings, lithographs, and etchings. It also places his work in dialogue with that of his wife, Valentine Prax, and a circle of his contemporaries and students.
Yang Bangsheng — a pioneer in the field of international interior design and founder of YANG & Associates Group — systematically summarizes his design philosophy and practice for three decades, from his awakening in the fields of eastern Sichuan, to his expression of Eastern aesthetics on the global stage. It is a great work that fuses Eastern wisdom with contemporary spirit. Centered on the concept of “shēng xī jìng gòu”, or “Constructing Living Realms — Live, Rest, Position, Compose,” this book unfolds a design journey blending poetry and philosophy:
Live—Seeking wisdom from landscapes, conversing with nature.
Rest—Pursuing inner balance, achieving beauty within restraint.
Position—Embracing vitality in space, revealing intangible beauty.
Compose—Crafting humanistic scenes, creating enduring resonance.
Reveals: Portraits from Five Continents showcases Wendy Newman’s intimate photographs from an expansive, soul-searching journey across global terrains. Raised in White Plains, New York and shaped early by an innate sense of style that led to a decades-long career at Harper’s Bazaar and Prada, Newman ultimately turned away from the fashion industry in pursuit of something more meaningful: an authentic understanding of people and cultures beyond the surface.
Spanning 11 years of global travel, the book compiles a remarkable body of portrait photography captured across diverse regions—from Asia and South America to Africa and the Middle East—culminating in her time in Uganda. Guided and influenced by her studies at the International Center of Photography and mentorship from renowned photographers such as Robert Caputo, Phil Borges, and Steve McCurry, Newman developed a portrait style rooted in presence and human connection.
Organized into five thematic chapters—rivers, mountains, deserts, islands, and jungles—the book uses geography as a framework to explore the shared humanity that transcends place. More than a collection of photographs, Newman’s work reflects an emotional journey, capturing fleeting yet profound encounters and silent, powerful exchanges.

“Over the years, I’ve learned to stay in the moment and not get lost in the possible consequences of a situation. I focus mainly on the things I can control.” Ann Wauters.
“Be honest with yourself. If you’re not, you can’t grow.” Julie Allemand.
“If, after the first game of a championship, you already let your shoulders drop, you undermine your chances of winning later on. That’s why it’s important to take the time to reflect – and to truly change gears.” Antonia Delaere

Beautifully produced, Desmond Freeman Venice presents more than 50 captioned, black and white and full-color sketches of the architecture of Venice accompanied by quotations from well-known authors, poets and artists. The preface describes the story of how the book came into being, and was developed in addition to information about the artwork methodology. A set of thumbnail illustrations of each of the 50 or so full artworks has been included at the back of the book in the form of an index.
From the white plastic bed for the Prisunic catalogue (1966) to the Culbuto armchair issued by Knoll, and from the Lip watch to the private apartments of the Élysée Palace, Paris, (1983), the furniture and objects conceived by Marc Held have been emblematic of the renewal of French design, following the line of Scandinavians such as Alvar Aalto and Arne Jacobsen… With his gallery L’Échoppe on the rue de Seine, Paris, and then with his agency, the designer and architect Marc Held also took part in major projects for IBM and Renault.
This book traces fifty years of design, whose success with the public at large has contributed to a great liberation in our style of life. The generosity of his vision has remained faithful to the humanist values that guided his childhood in Bagnolet, where he was born in 1932. Having settled in Greece, on the island of Skopelos, over twenty years ago, Marc Held still continues to build houses and furnish them with his creations, working closely with Greek craftsmen.

“We are living history right now. I believe we need to do more to document this unique moment in America, and who better to convey what we all are feeling than our country’s greatest artists? It is my hope that in 50 years, art history classes will pull this book off the shelf and understand the deep emotion of this time.” — William Weinaug
Around the world, many individuals and families have faced isolation due to COVID-19. Our lives have been changed as we face a historical crisis of unprecedented scale. But beauty has also come from this hardship. The Great American Paint In® was birthed to allow artists to paint their emotions during the pandemic, capturing this period of history in a unique way — through art.
This book curates the products of the Paint In️®, revealing the responses of over 50 artists from across the continent. Artists share their experiences, their losses, and their hopes for the future. In doing so, they demonstrate the real grit and backbone of the American pandemic story. Like so many enduring these difficult times, they discovered a whole new world and a brand “new normal” that allows them to live, work, survive — and, most importantly, create.
These stories have been shared by Wekiva Island online, at Gallery CERO, and around the country in several traveling art exhibits. Now, for the first time, they are being brought together in a single volume.
Select artists include: Hai-Ou Hou, Olena Babek, Barbara Fox, Jill Stefani Wagner, Paul Schulenburg, Morgan Samuel Price, Kyle Stanley, Raymond Bonilla, Kathleen Dunphy, Jennfer Miller, Michelle Held, David Arsenault, John S Caggiano, Tony D’Amico, Karen Blackwood, Jeanne Rosier Smith, Justin T Worrell, Thomas Kegler, Shawn Krueger, Erik Koeppel, Ken Salaz, Hillary Scott, Thomas Adkins, Michael Orwick, Kim VanDerHoek, Cindy House, George Van Hook, Kim Lordier, Marc R Hansen, Sergio Roffo, Sam Vokey, Mary Erickson, Tom LaRock, Josh Clare, Howard B Friendland, Marc Dalessio, Andrew Orr, Kari Ganoung Ruiz, Charles Muench, Jim McVicker, Trish Coonrod, Joseph Daily, Jeffrey Hayes, Mitch Kolbe, Dogulas Wiltraut, Ray Howard, Nick Patten, Brett Scheifflee, Jeff Gola, Eleinne Basa, Bill Farnsworth, Garin J Baker, and Mary Jane Volkmann.
Shadows of Boulder Hill presents a group of 50 powerful paintings in oil on linen by artist Tang Shuo (b. 1987 in Guangxi, China) that delve into his childhood experiences in rural southern China. This, Tang’s first book, documents the concurrent exhibitions of these works at Fabienne Levy’s galleries in Geneva and Lausanne, Switzerland, in 2023.
Shadows of Boulder Hill marks a significant point in Tang’s career; in 2023 he incorporated narrative threads into his paintings for the first time, depicting young lovers, recluses, and wanderers lost in imagined and remembered landscapes of lush vegetation and wildflowers. A selection of the fascinating true stories from Boulder Hill that inform Tang’s practice, personal and collective, are detailed in the gallery notes.
Shadows of Boulder Hill includes a foreword by gallerist Fabienne Levy and an essay by multidisciplinary scholar Dr Matthew Holman. Here, Tang appears as an artist who has found his voice as he eloquently explores scenes of family, friendship, suffering, solitude, and survival.
Pål Vigeland has worked as a metal artist for nearly 50 years. Everything he has ever made, from jewelry and plates to public commissions and sculptures, has always been characterized by precision and stringency. This book shows the continuities between Vigeland’s earliest years and the present, while also exploring many of the surprising changes that have taken place along the way.
The intricate production methods that underlie Pål Vigeland’s latest works in tin are difficult to comprehend when standing in front of the finished pieces. Consequently, one major contribution to this book are Guri Dahl’s photographs of the artist at work. Her many close-ups allow us to zoom in on the constructive processes and appreciate how exacting and time-consuming they really are.
This book accompanies an exhibition at the Galleri Langegården, Bergen (NO), 21 May to 16 June 2019.
