Scottish Portrait Awards – Portrait, UK

28 Nov — 11 Apr 2027

The Scottish Portrait Awards exhibition at the Portrait will be a celebration of Scottish creativity, spotlighting the many talented contemporary portrait artists in Scotland today.

The Scottish Portrait Awards are organised by the Scottish Arts Trust and were established in 2017 – we’re excited to be hosting the exhibition for the first time! There are three Awards for artists to enter: John Clark Motor Group Scottish Portrait Award in Fine Art; MPB Scottish Portrait Award in Photography and Scotland Now! Phone Portrait Award. Artists over 16 years that were born, or are living or studying in Scotland have the opportunity to participate in this exciting exhibition.

For the exhibition at the Portrait, around 120 works will be selected by the Scottish Portrait Awards judges from the Fine Art and Photography entries and 60 works will be chosen from the Phone entries.

Entries for the Scottish Portrait Awards are now closed.

The prizes, presented by the Scottish Arts Trust, will total £17,500. In addition, the winner of the John Clark Motor Group Scottish Portrait Award in Fine Art and the winner of the MPB Scottish Portrait Award in Photography will each receive a portrait commission, which will join Scotland’s national collection.

Judges include BBC Radio 4’s Kirsty Wark, iconic fashion photographer Albert Watson OBE and Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year 2021, Calum Stevenson.
