Venice for Pleasure Book Launch – Alan Baxter Gallery, UK

The launch the 10th edition of VENICE FOR PLEASURE ‘the greatest guidebook to any city ever written’, now in its 60th year will be held at the Alan Baxter Gallery, London, on Wednesday, 23 September 2026 with a drinks reception from 6 to 8 pm.

This will be a joint event with Venice in Peril to support the ACQUA GRANDA APPEAL marking the 60th anniversary of the devastating 1966 floods in Venice.

J. G. Links’ charming and much-loved guidebook has delighted and surprised generations of visitors to Venice. This 10th edition, celebrating its 60th anniversary, has been fully  revised, and its glorious illustrations are now in full colour. Come and celebrate its birthday with us. Acqua Granda Appeal

Marking the 60th anniversary of the devastating floods of November 1966, which prompted an extraordinary international conservation effort to protect the city’s art,  architecture and unique contribution to our civilisation. This appeal seeks to address the continued threats from the effects of rising sea levels, land subsidence and mass tourism. All funds raised will support three interconnected priorities: i) conserve works of art and architecture at risk, ii) provide opportunities for the next generation of scholars
and craftspeople; and iii) support responses to environmental challenges.
