Ars Botanica – Castello di Miramare, Italy
15 Sep — 11 Jul 2023
Trieste, Miramare Castle
15 September 2022 – 11 June 2023
The Miramare Castle library reveals for the first time its treasure trove of books dedicated to botany, flowers, plants and gardens. The rich book collection, in keeping with the spirit of the 19th century, is reflected in the living garden which surrounds the château.
A natural, artificial and artistic creation at the same time, the garden of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Habsburg and his wife Charlotte of Belgium embodies an ideal of perfection, beauty and relationship with nature.
The botanical library is a garden on paper that leads to a path of dream and meditation conceived in a cultured aristocratic living room
of the nineteenth century.
The exhibition is curated by Andreina Contessa, Director of the Historical Museum and the Miramare Castle Park.
The visit is included in the regular admission ticket to the Museum.
