Book title: BACK IN IBIZA 1998-2003
Exhibition currently running in THE SOCIAL’s bar until 25th October – on the night of the club there will be projections of images too.
Dean Chalkley has been taking compelling cultural photographs since the mid 1990s and his work with the likes of Paul Weller, Amy Winehouse, Oasis and Dizzee Rascal is widely celebrated. Fuelled by his devotion to music and its potential for self-expression, his work manifests itself in many ways and celebrates a broad range of subjects, including participants in sub-cultures, ‘underground’ pioneers to popstars and people in the public eye. Through seminal projects, Dean has explored topics including contemporary Mod and Northern Soul scenes as well as 21st-century Rudeboys.
At the tail end of the ’90s, Dean Chalkley found himself in Ibiza, the capital of the clubbing world. For many, the turn of the millennium represents the peak of club life, when clubbers would lose themselves for days in the often-surreal abandon of their favourite Spanish party haven. Working for Mixmag, the biggest dance-music magazine in the world, Chalkley amassed a vast archive of images from this unrivalled Golden Era in the island’s near-history.
Back in Ibiza 1998 -2003 offers a thrilling deep-dive through those images, illustrating the unfiltered and sometimes unhinged club scene from a world before Snapchat and TikTok reels. This unique collection is essential viewing for partygoers and clubbing fans, a joy to behold and a nostalgic reminder of what a real party can look like.

Trailblazer and original party starter Lisa loud celebrates her fourth decade behind the decks. A major influencer responsible for launching bands, Soul 11 Soul, Massive Attack and Leftfield to name a few, Lisa’s well travelled career has seen her have residencies in Ibiza, London, Italy, tour with Moby in the USA, and be the regular special guest DJ at the most desirable super clubs across the globe.
Born and raised on Motown and soul music Lisa catapulted in the Acid House days after Paul Oakenfold taught the teenage Lisa to DJ. Lisa’s regularly playing up and down the country and throughout the world there is no stopping the loud one just yet!

Nancy Noise is a true Balearic pioneer. One of the original DJs to bring the sound of Ibiza back to London in the mid-80s, she helped shape the underground scene that gave rise to Acid House and beyond. Inspired by nights at Amnesia and the legendary sets of Alfredo, Nancy carried that eclectic, free-spirited energy into UK clubs, becoming a resident at The Future and a regular behind the decks at some of London’s most influential parties.
Her sets are pure musical journeys from deep Balearic cuts, Latin, Afro, and soulful grooves to house and rare gems. Nancy’s sets are always delivered with the warmth and passion that have made her a dancefloor favourite for decades. Whether in clubs, on rooftops, or at festivals worldwide, Nancy captures the essence of that original Balearic spirit: freedom, joy, and connection through music.
As vital as ever, Nancy Noise continues to light up dancefloors with her unique style, keeping the Balearic flame alive for new generations…Bring the Noise!!

For those who remember the early days of the UK rave scene, Gavin Mills may ring a bell as DJ Face, or through his pioneering productions as Psychotropic. By the late ’90s, he had found his spiritual home on the White Isle of Ibiza, becoming a regular for Defected Records as one half of Copyright during their very first season at Ibiza Town’s brand-new club El Divino. The residency later moved on to legendary venues Pacha and Booom, cementing Gavin’s place in the island’s story.
Expect that unmistakable Copyright bounce – a Balearic blend of disco, latin, afro and deep house, packed with exclusive edits and surprise gems to keep the dancefloor buzzing… It’s going to be special!
