Claire Vasarely – Fondation Vasarely, France
13 Jun — 15 Feb 2026
Long overshadowed by Victor Vasarely, Claire Vasarely (born Klára Spinner) is now emerging in all the richness of her personal work.
The Vasarely Foundation is dedicating a unique retrospective to this French artist of Hungarian origin.
This major exhibition reveals a unique, bold and polymorphic artistic journey. Trained at the Műhely in Budapest – often nicknamed the
“Hungarian Bauhaus” -, Claire explored a wide range of practices from the 1930s: painting, decorative arts, fashion design, advertising posters and even tapestries.
This exhibition finally brings to light a key figure of the Hungarian avant-garde and of 20th-century female creativity.
Organized in partnership with the Vasarely Museum in Pécs (Hungary), the retrospective draws on previously unpublished archives and a selection of rare works retracing the career of an independent, free and visionary artist.
Exhibition curator Valérie Da Costa, professor of contemporary art history at the University of Paris 8 Vincennes-Saint Denis.
