Geoff MacCormack signing – Lucy Bell Gallery, UK

16 Oct 2026

This Friday evening, Geoff MacCormack will be signing copies of David Bowie: Music Lover; his new book co-written with Jerome Soligny, at LUCY BELL GALLERY, 46 Norman Road, St Leonards-on-Sea, TN38 OEJ.

Sadly Jerome won’t be able to come, but the Gallery will be exhibiting Geoff’s photographs, featuring images shot at the recording sessions of Station to Station at Cherokee Studios in 1975.

“Towards the end of 1975, after the filming of The Man Who Fell to Earth, Bowie began work on what would become Station to Station. I was there with him, living in a rented house in Bel Air, Hanging out in Los Angeles and, finding my way into the studio to contribute backing vocals – and, perhaps just as importantly, a little moral support.

The album was recorded at Cherokee Studios and co-produced by Harry Maslin. As the sessions progressed, an extraordinary array of musicians passed through the door. I didn’t think of myself as a photographer at the time, and I certainly wasn’t documenting the sessions, but on the few occasions when I happened to take my camera with me, I caught a handful of moments.

Looking back now, those photographs feel like fragments of that time – glimpses of people, places and encounters that seemed entirely ordinary then, but which, with the distance of years, have taken on a rather different quality.” Geoff MacCormack (AKA Warren Peace) 50 years since the albums release, these photographs will be exhibited at Lucy Bell Gallery from the 16h October 2026 – 21st November.
