Helmut Middendorf
- The publication is the first to explore Middendorf’s collage practice, revealing a vital and previously underrepresented aspect of his work
- Mostly unpublished works from the past 15 years
- An extensive conversation with art critic and curator Jurriaan Benschop offers rare insight into Middendorf’s artistic thinking and ongoing experimentation
Helmut Middendorf is one of the leading proponents of the Neue Wilde movement and has been a highly influential presence on the Berlin arts scene since the 1980s. He is always looking for new ways to express himself through painting, drawing, photographs and collage. This is the first publication devoted entirely to the use of collage within his oeuvre. It shows works from the past 15 years, most of which are being published for the first time. These images are complemented by photographs of installations in Athens, Paris, and Antwerp, as well as an extensive interview between the artist and author, art critic and curator Jurriaan Benschop.
