    Full Description

Cécile Plaisance is a French contemporary artist renowned for her pop, glamorous, and provocative visual universe. Her monumental lenticular works play with movement, revelation, and transformation depending on the viewing angle. She explores themes of femininity, desire, and women’s freedom. Her creations combine humour, sensuality, and social critique while maintaining a strong aesthetic dimension. In particular, she questions the hyper-sexualisation of the female body and the contradictions of contemporary society. Cécile Plaisance exhibits internationally, from Paris to Miami, London to Las Vegas, Venice to Los Angeles.

    Text in English and French.

    About the Author

Cécile Plaisance, born in 1968 in Paris, France, is a French photographer. A graduate in economics and business from Paris-Dauphine University in 1991, she worked for about ten years in finance, specialising in the European market. She then chose to train in digital photography techniques. Leaving France once again, she settled in Brussels, Belgium, where she fully dedicated herself to her photography career. Heavily influenced by popular culture, pin-up illustrations, and Playboy photographs, one of the artist's first photographic series, entitled "Tribute to Newton", pays homage to the portrait photographer Helmut Newton. This series consists of black and white photographs of Barbie dolls dressed in white crinoline. The artist's primary intention is to evoke reflection on the delicate and feminine sensuality of these plastic dolls.
