    Full Description

111 LGBTQ+ Places in New York City That You Must Not Miss celebrates a city that has been a thriving epicentre of LGBTQ+ culture, art, activism and community for decades. For queer New Yorkers and visitors alike, New York offers joy, connection and belonging — and this guide reveals the places where that legacy comes alive. From iconic landmarks to hidden sites and everyday spaces, the book uncovers the stories that made queer New York what it is today. Readers can explore the corners of Central Park where queer life once flourished, visit the world’s only queer art museum and discover the birthplace of the modern gay rights movement. Each entry contributes to the city’s powerful historic legacy. Whether for lifelong New Yorkers or curious travellers, this compelling guide offers a new way to experience the city: through the people who fought, created, loved and lived boldly. These 111 places reveal why New York remains a catalyst for liberation.

    About the Author

Michael Venturiello (he/him) is a queer storyteller, author, educator and New York City tour guide. He is the founder of Christopher Street Tours, an LGBTQ+ walking tour organisation dedicated to increasing access to LGBTQ+ history, and has been recognised worldwide for his leadership and impact. When he’s not giving tours or writing, Michael enjoys seeing Broadway shows, spending time with his husband and dog, and exploring the hidden gems of New York City. Kade Joy is a gender-queer lesbian whose work is deeply rooted in archiving queer history. They aim to capture queer life in NYC as it presently exists, while paying homage and contributing to the rich body of work preserved by their LGBTQ ancestors for generations of photographers to come.
