Full Description

The Estrine Museum is dedicating an exhibition to Françoise Gilot – Picasso’s companion after the Second World War – an artist that continues to arouse fervour among art enthusiasts with her unique language of form and colour. Her works, produced in various media, now occupy a more than important place in the international art world and are strongly linked to the evolution of modern art in the 20th century.

Her exquisite paintings, her feminist way of thinking as well as her literary works earned her the title of Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur in 1990. Her career is the result of a rich life in contact with exceptional artists, including Pablo Picasso.

Published to accompany a rare exhibition devoted to the work of Françoise Gilot, companion of Pablo Picasso, 16 July-31 October, at Musée Estrine, St. Rémy de Provence.
