    About the Author

    Michela Gianfranceschi lives and works in Rome. After graduating in Medieval and Modern Art History, she obtained a PhD in Modern Art History with research focused on Caravaggio’s cultural heritage. Specialised in Caravaggio and Caravaggism studies, she has collaborated with Sapienza University of Rome, the Vatican Museums and other major cultural institutions. Stefania Macioce is Professor of Modern Art History at Sapienza University of Rome. A leading Caravaggio scholar, she has conducted extensive archival research in Italy and Malta and authored numerous studies on the artist, including Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. Documents, Sources and Inventories 1513–1875, a landmark reference work in Caravaggio studies.
