    Full Description

The book project on Naira Pennacchi is edited by Mario Gioia, independent curator and art critic, and includes critical essays by Ana Avelar, professor at the University of Brasília and curator, and Bianca Coutinho Dias, psychoanalyst and art critic. A substantial essay examines the artist’s complete body of work. Pennacchi’s work is analysed from multiple perspectives. Avelar, one of Brazil’s leading specialists in abstraction, situates the artist’s practice at the boundaries between abstraction and figuration, placing it within the broader context of women’s artistic production in this field both in Brazil and internationally. Dias approaches Pennacchi’s work through a perspective closely related to psychoanalytic thought.

    Text in English and Portuguese.
