    Full Description

From October 2, 2026, to May 2, 2027, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs presents the work of Brazilian fashion photographer Rafael Pavarotti. Born in 1993 in Pará, at the heart of the Amazon rainforest, Pavarotti draws on his Afro-Indigenous heritage and personal history to create a powerful visual language. A self-taught photographer, he quickly rose to prominence through collaborations with leading publications including Vogue, The New York Times, and Acne Paper, as well as campaigns for Dior, Balmain, Maison Margiela, Ferragamo, and Off-White.

Recognisable for his vibrant colours, striking contrasts, and sculptural compositions, Pavarotti’s work celebrates the diversity of bodies while questioning the political and social structures of the fashion industry. This richly illustrated catalogue brings together around one hundred photographs alongside essays by writers, artists, and fashion professionals exploring the major themes of his practice, including Afro-Brazilian identity, Black representation in fashion photography, de-colonial perspectives, the preservation of the Amazon, and the influence of religious iconography. An extended illustrated interview with the photographer offers unique insight into the roots of his artistic vision and commitment.
