    Full Description

From the explosive energy of Fauvism to the mature cut-outs, this monograph dedicated to Henri Matisse traces the journey of an artist who transformed physical limitations into new modes of creation. The book illuminates a body of work in which colour becomes structure and line organises space, highlighting the decisive choices that profoundly redefined pictorial modernism. Written by Colin Lemoine, an art historian, critic, and exhibition curator, the work resonates with the Matisse exhibition presented at the Grand Palais starting in March, the most important held since the venue reopened.

True to the editorial line of Cercle d’Art, this monograph combines intellectual rigor with accessibility.
