William Wegman and His Dogs

The multifaceted American artist William Wegman (born in 1943) has been exploring inter-species relationships since the 1970s and, together with his dogs—all Weimaraners—has created a substantial body of photographic and video works featuring them. Man Ray, his first companion, followed by Fay Ray and their many descendants, have been by his side to this day. Whether alone in the studio, in pairs, or in groups (up to 10 dogs and puppies!), they have journeyed with him through more than 50 years of contemporary art history—from conceptual art to fine art photography—while maintaining strong ties to pop culture, from television shows to children’s books.

The fifth volume in the Amigos Forever collection, this richly illustrated book also bears witness to the bond and friendship that unite the author, Martin Bethenod, and William Wegman.
